• 今日は主の洗礼の祝日です。福音書で聞いたように、イエス様の生涯(しょうがい)におけるこの出来事は三位(み)一体の現れです。御子はヨルダン川で洗礼を受け、御父は天から語りかけ、聖霊は鳩(はと)のように現れます。今日はその鳩、つまり聖霊に焦点(しょうてん)を当てたいと思います。
• 日本の文化でも鳩にはいろいろな意味があります。私が皆さんに尋ねたら、鳩には平和の意味があると答えるかもしれません。しかし、これは特に第二次(じ)世界大戦(たいせん)以降(いこう)のことです。昔の文化では、鳩には別の意味がありました。鳩は神様の使(つか)いでした。例えば、成田(なりた)空港に近い茨城(いばらき)県にある鹿島(かしま)神宮(じんぐう)には、木彫(きぼ)りの鳩がいます。この鳩は建御雷神(たけみかづちのかみ)と関係があり、神様の使いで、神様の意志(いし)を伝える役割(やくわり)を担(にな)っています。そして、神様と人間との仲介役(ちゅうかいやく)となります。
• 約2000年前のヨルダン川でも同じようなことがありました。イエス様が洗礼を受けたとき、鳩が舞(ま)い降りました。神様と人間との仲介(ちゅうかい)者である鳩。しかし、この現実はさらに深いものです。鳩は単なる使者(ししゃ)ではなく、神様ご自身の現れだからです。このことを説明しましょう。神様の中には父がおられます。そして神様の中には御子がおられます。父は子をとても愛しています。そして子も父をとても愛しています。そして、父と子の間の愛はあまりに偉大なので、聖霊という第三の位格(いかく)が現れます。位格(いかく)である聖霊は、父と子の間の無限の愛です。夫と妻のように、夫は妻をとても愛し、妻は夫をとても愛しています。そして、夫婦の愛は第三の人を生むことができ、それは夫婦の愛のしるしです。
• 聖霊であるこの鳩は、父と子の愛の使者(ししゃ)だからです。それだけでなく、聖霊はイエス様に使命を与えます。そしてさらに、その使命を遂行(すいこう)するための恵みを与えます。そして、洗礼を受けた私たちも、この同じ賜物(たまもの)を受けています。私たちも洗礼によって聖霊を受けました。そして、私たちもまた使命を授(さず)かっています。その使命とは、祭司、預言者、王となることです。生けるまことの神に近づくための祭司。預言者は神の国を告げ知らせます。そして、他の人たち、特に最も困っている人たちを導き、付き添(そ)う王たちです。
• 聖霊という最も偉大な賜物(たまもの)を授(さず)けてくださった神に感謝しましょう。そして、聖霊が私たちに託(たく)された使命を果たすことができるよう、私たちに恵みを与えてくださるよう願いましょう。

Qua phép rửa tội, chúng ta đã nhận được một sứ mệnh. Sứ mệnh đó là trở thành tư tế, tiên tri và vua. Các linh mục có nhiệm vụ đưa mọi người đến gần hơn với Thiên Chúa hằng sống và chân thật. Các nhà tiên tri rao truyền Vương quốc của Chúa. Và các vị vua hướng dẫn và đồng hành cùng người khác, đặc biệt là những người cần giúp đỡ nhất. Chúng ta cũng hãy cầu xin Chúa ban cho chúng ta ơn để có thể thực hiện sứ mệnh mà Người đã giao phó cho chúng ta.

• Hoy celebramos la fiesta del Bautismo del Señor. Como hemos escuchado en el evangelio, este acontecimiento de la vida de Jesús es una manifestación de la Trinidad. El Hijo es bautizado en el río Jordán, el Padre habla desde el Cielo y el Espíritu Santo aparece como una paloma. Hoy quisiera centrarme en la paloma, es decir, en el Espíritu Santo.
• En la cultura japonesa la paloma tiene también varios significados. Si os preguntase, probablemente me diríais que la paloma tiene un significado de paz. Sin embargo, esto es algo más actual, sobre todo desde la Segunda Guerra Mundial. Antiguamente, las palomas tenían otro significado en la cultura. Las palomas eran las mensajeras de los dioses. Por ejemplo, en el santuario Kashima, situado en la prefectura de Ibaraki, cerca del aeropuerto de Narita, podemos encontrar representaciones de palomas talladas en la madera. Estas palomas están conectadas con el Dios Takemikazuchi y son sus mensajeras. Se dedican a transmitir la voluntad del Dios. Y así se convierten en mediadoras entre Dios y los hombres.
• Algo similar ocurrió hace unos 2000 años en el río Jordán. Una paloma descendió sobre Jesús cuando fue bautizado. Una paloma que es mediadora entre Dios y los hombres. Sin embargo, esta realidad es todavía más profunda. Porque la paloma no es solo una mensajera, sino que es una manifestación de Dios mismo. Vamos a intentar explicarlo. En Dios hay un Padre. Y en Dios hay un Hijo. El Padre quiere mucho al Hijo. Y el Hijo quiere mucho al Padre. Y el Amor entre el Padre y el Hijo es tan grande, que da lugar a una tercera persona que es el Espíritu Santo. El Espíritu Santo, que es una persona, es el Amor infinito entre el Padre y el Hijo. Igual que los esposos, el esposo quiere mucho a la esposa y la esposa quiere mucho al esposo. Y el amor entre el esposo y la esposa puede dar lugar a una tercera persona, que es signo del amor entre los esposos.
• Pues esta paloma, que es el Espíritu Santo, es mensajera del Amor entre el Padre y el Hijo. Pero no sólo eso, sino que también le da una misión a Jesús. Y además, le da la gracia para llevar su misión a cabo. Y nosotros, que también hemos sido bautizados, hemos recibido este mismo don. También nosotros hemos recibido el Espíritu Santo en nuestro bautismo. Y hemos recibido también una misión. Esa misión es la de ser sacerdotes, profetas y reyes. Sacerdotes para acercar a los demás al Dios vivo y verdadero. Profetas para anunciar el Reino de Dios. Y reyes para guiar y acompañar a los demás, especialmente a los más necesitados.
• Demos gracias a Dios por el mayor de los dones, el Espíritu Santo. Y pidámosle también que nos conceda la Gracia de poder llevar a cabo la misión que nos encomienda.

• Today we celebrate the feast of the Baptism of the Lord. As we have heard in the Gospel, this event in the life of Jesus is a manifestation of the Trinity. The Son is baptized in the Jordan River, the Father speaks from Heaven and the Holy Spirit appears as a dove. Today I would like to focus on the dove, that is, the Holy Spirit.
• In Japanese culture the dove also has various meanings. If I were to ask you, you would probably tell me that the dove has a meaning of peace. However, this is something more current, especially since World War II. In the old days, pigeons had another meaning in the culture. Pigeons were the messengers of the gods. For example, at Kashima Shrine, located in Ibaraki Prefecture, near Narita Airport, we can find representations of pigeons carved in wood. These pigeons are connected to the god Takemikazuchi and are his messengers. They are dedicated to transmit the will of the God. And thus they become mediators between God and men.
• Something similar happened about 2000 years ago at the Jordan River. A dove descended upon Jesus when he was baptized. A dove that is a mediator between God and men. However, this reality is even more profound. For the dove is not only a messenger, but a manifestation of God himself. Let us try to explain it. In God there is a Father. And in God there is a Son. The Father loves the Son very much. And the Son loves the Father very much. And the Love between the Father and the Son is so great, that it gives rise to a third person which is the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit, who is a person, is the infinite Love between the Father and the Son. Just like the spouses, the husband loves the wife very much and the wife loves the husband very much. And the love between husband and wife can give rise to a third person, which is a sign of the love between the spouses.
• For this dove, which is the Holy Spirit, is a messenger of the Love between the Father and the Son. But not only that, it also gives Jesus a mission. And furthermore, it gives him the grace to carry out his mission. And we, who have also been baptized, have received this same gift. We too have received the Holy Spirit at our baptism. And we have also received a mission. That mission is to be priests, prophets and kings. Priests to bring others closer to the living and true God. Prophets to announce the Kingdom of God. And kings to guide and accompany others, especially those most in need.
• Let us give thanks to God for the greatest of gifts, the Holy Spirit. And let us also ask Him to grant us the Grace to be able to carry out the mission He entrusts to us.
