Cuando era seminarista estudi\u00e9 algunas de sus obras m\u00e1s importantes y qued\u00e9 impresionado por la belleza de sus escritos. Quisiera compartir con vosotros una frase de san Agust\u00edn que nos puede ayudar a entender las lecturas de hoy. \u201cAma y, lo que quieres, hazlo\u201d. Vamos a explicar esta frase usando el evangelio de hoy.\r\n\r\n2 \u2013 En el Evangelio de hoy Jes\u00fas denuncia a los fariseos su hipocres\u00eda. Con los labios honran a Dios, pero con el coraz\u00f3n est\u00e1n lejos de Dios. Es decir, dicen una cosa, pero en el coraz\u00f3n piensan la contraria. O hacen una cosa, como limpiarse las manos, pero tienen el coraz\u00f3n impuro. En resumen, no hay unidad entre lo que se hace, lo que se dice y lo que se piensa. No hay unidad entre las manos, la cabeza y el coraz\u00f3n. Adem\u00e1s, cuando el interior est\u00e1 desordenado, eso se muestra tambi\u00e9n en el exterior. Pero, \u00bfcu\u00e1l es la clave para alcanzar esta unidad y ordenar nuestro interior? Agust\u00edn lo explica en su frase. \u201cAma y, lo que quieres, hazlo\u201d.\r\n\r\n3 \u2013 La clave es el amor. Quien colocar el amor en primer lugar comienza a ordenar adecuadamente su interior. Adem\u00e1s, de todos los amores que hay, el amor a Dios est\u00e1 llamado a ocupar ese primer lugar. Por eso una mujer amiga m\u00eda un d\u00eda le dijo a su marido: \u201cHay un hombre al que quiero m\u00e1s que a ti\u201d. El marido sorprendido le pregunt\u00f3: \u201c\u00bfQui\u00e9n es?\u201d. \u201cA Jesucristo\u201d respondi\u00f3 ella.\r\n\r\n4 \u2013 Pero no siempre es as\u00ed. A veces podemos colocar otras personas o cosas en el primer lugar. Pensemos por ejemplo en alguien que ha colocado en el primer lugar la \u201ccorrecci\u00f3n\u201d. \u00bfQu\u00e9 suceder\u00e1 cuando haga algo incorrecto o cuando alguien cercano haga algo incorrecto? Y si el amor a Jesucristo ocupa el primer lugar, \u00bfc\u00f3mo crees que responder\u00edas?\r\n\r\n5 \u2013 Colocar el amor a Dios en el primer lugar ordena nuestro interior. Y as\u00ed se ordenan tambi\u00e9n nuestros deseos. Por eso dice Agust\u00edn: \u201cAma y, lo que quieres, hazlo\u201d. Os invito a hacer un examen de nuestro interior y ver qu\u00e9 o qui\u00e9n ocupa el primer lugar. No basta s\u00f3lo con decirlo. A veces decimos que Dios ocupa el primer lugar pero en realidad no es as\u00ed. When I was a seminarian I studied some of his most important works and was impressed by the beauty of his writings. I would like to share with you a phrase of St. Augustine that can help us to understand today's readings. \u2018Love, and what you will, do\u2019. Let's explain this phrase using today's Gospel.\r\n\r\n2 - In today's Gospel Jesus denounces the Pharisees for their hypocrisy. With their lips they honour God, but with their hearts they are far from God. That is to say, they say one thing, but in their heart they think the opposite. Or they do one thing, like wiping their hands, but their hearts are impure. In short, there is no unity between what is done, what is said and what is thought. There is no unity between the hands, the head and the heart. Moreover, when the inside is disordered, it also shows on the outside. But what is the key to achieve this unity and to put our inner self in order? Augustine explains it in his phrase. \u2018Love and, what you want, do\u2019.\r\n\r\n3 - The key is love. Whoever places love in the first place begins to order his inner self properly. Moreover, of all the loves there are, the love of God is called to occupy that first place. That is why a woman friend of mine one day said to her husband: \u2018There is a man I love more than you\u2019. The husband asked her in surprise: \u2018Who is he? She replied, \u2018Jesus Christ\u2019.\r\n\r\n4 - But this is not always the case. Sometimes we can put other people or things in first place. Think for example of someone who has put \u2018correction\u2019 in the first place. What will happen when he does something wrong or when someone close to him does something wrong? And if love for Jesus Christ comes first, how do you think you would respond?\r\n\r\n5 - Putting love for God in the first place puts our inner self in order. And so do our desires. That is why Augustine says: \u2018Love, and what you want, do\u2019. I invite you to examine your inner self and see what or who comes first. It is not enough just to say it. Sometimes we say that God comes first, but in reality this is not the case.
